Ankiti Bose is on course to become India's first female unicorn founder with her near-$1 billion fashion start-up Zilingo.

"I think to be an entrepreneur or to do anything, you have to be a pathological optimist." The idea came about in 2014 when Ankiti was on holiday in Bangkok with her friends. They visited a market called Chatuchak, a lively venue with more than 8,000 small stores and designers. "I was like, - Wow, this stuff should be online. But they just couldn't sell online; they didn't know how to." Then in just a year later, it all happened unexpectedly, over a casual beer. "My flatmate invited his flatmate over for a beer, and neither of us was actually supposed to be there. That casual get together in Bangalore gave birth to what would eventually become Zilingo. And in four short years, it has grown into a global platform with more than seven million active users."
